LADY OF THE HOUSE

4884 Grand River Avenue, Unit 1C, Detroit

The return of Lady of the House is one of the most anticipated reopenings in Detroit. “James Beard Award-nominated chef Kate Williams’ acclaimed restaurant Lady of the House will make its highly anticipated reopening in a stunning new Core City space with a revamped menu, opening in October,” shares Brand Manager Katy Carmichael. “Committed to bringing back what had long been her passion project, and her personal ode to the Irish hospitality she grew up with, Kate is resurrecting her evolved version of Lady of the House as a reflection of the chef she is today.” With sourcing ingredients locally whenever possible and operating a no-waste kitchen, Lady of the House is expected to offer a frequently rotating menu, but signature dishes are definitely set to make their return. Some of those include: “Steak Tartare with dijonnaise, crispy potato, and caviar, served with a charred leek top gremolata; the famed Whole Roasted Chicken served with challah migas and roasted shiitake and maitake mushrooms, topped with a frisée salad and a lemon rosemary gravy; and the popular Potato Donut dessert with sugared thyme and chamomile cream sauce.” Keep an eye out for the opening date, as you won’t want to miss out on these seasonal masterpieces.

SYLVAN TABLE

1819 Inverness Street, Sylvan Lake

Set on a five-acre farm in Sylvan Lake, Sylvan Table offers a true farm-to-table dining experience. This fall, you can expect dishes bursting with the flavors of the season, from roasted vegetables like beets and cauliflower to filling entrees with fresh ingredients harvested on-site. Sylvan Table’s commitment to sustainability and local sourcing shines through in its rotating menu, which changes based on what’s in season on the farm. The charm of the rustic 300-year-old barn with a wood-fired oven speaks for itself, but the menu certainly helps. Start with the tomato soup with focaccia grilled cheese, Heirloom Tomato Flatbread, or Roasted Beef Bone Marrow with sauteéd greens, caramelized onions, and pickled mustard seeds. As for shareable plates, the mushroom risotto or one of the roasted veggies are great choices, and for an entree, select from choices like Roasted Honeynut Squash and Fettucini, Heritage Breed Berkshire Pork Chop, or Wagyu Tri-Tip Sirloin with saffron goat cheese polenta. The autumn menu here is a celebration of Michigan’s harvest, and every dish feels like a nod to the season.

The Fed Community in Clarkston brings a sense of warmth and community to every dish they serve. Their fall menu is no exception, featuring seasonal plates that showcase its farm-to-table specialties of comforting, hearty dishes. For brunch, the Autumn Salad is a great start, as are the biscuits and gravy with hot garlic honey. On the savory side, you can find red beans and rice, shrimp and grits, or the Sunday Special, with short rib, carrots, onions, Yukon potatoes, sourdough, and a sunny side egg, while the Cinnamon Roll Dutch Baby is an excellent sweet option. On the dinner menu, start with the Lentil & Ham Soup, or split the Fed Florentine with the table, made with artichokes, mozzarella, grilled chicken, and arugula. All of the mains are aptly on the ‘Substantial’ menu section, with choices like Gnocci Saltado, Center Cut Filet, and Racine La Cane (beet risotto, dry-aged duck, orange glaze). Don’t forget the sides though, with delicious garlic mashed potatoes on the menu, along with Roasted Brussels, Cajun Fries, and more. The Fed’s cozy, welcoming environment makes it the ideal spot for gathering with friends and family, especially during the cooler months.
